Discomforts
Nausea, extreme fatigue… Unfortunately, pregnancy also comes with its share of discomforts. Most women experience nausea and tiredness during the first trimester (the first 12 weeks) of pregnancy. These symptoms can rarely be fully resolved, but we’ve listed some helpful tips to support you during this time.
Nausea
- Eat something small before getting out of bed, such as a dry biscuit or cracker.
- Eat several small meals throughout the day instead of three large ones — large meals often worsen the symptoms.
- Fresh ginger tea may provide relief from nausea.
- If you suffer from severe nausea and frequent vomiting, your GP may be able to prescribe medication.
- If you are unable to keep anything down and experience significant weight loss, please contact us!
Fatigue
Due to increased hormone levels in your body, especially HCG, you will likely feel more tired during the first trimester. This hormone usually disappears from your bloodstream after 12 to 16 weeks, and fatigue often lessens around that time.
Unfortunately, some women feel tired throughout their entire pregnancy. The only remedy is to listen to your body and rest when needed. So don’t hesitate to head to bed a bit earlier in the evening!
